GeoDrafter Publish

Publish the current QGIS project as a web map with a permanent link. Open it from Web → GeoDrafter Publish → Publish map…

1. Choose what to publish

2. Try it on your own computer

Preview exports to the export folder and opens the map in your browser from this computer only. Nothing is uploaded.

3. Publish

  1. No account? Publish without an account makes a public map for 30 days (at most 25 MB, with a “Published with GeoDrafter” badge). The map's own key is saved in the project, so publishing again updates the same map until it is deleted. Anyone who gets the project file (for example a .qgz in a shared folder or a public Git repository) can therefore change or delete that map for the rest of its 30 days.
  2. Sign in at app.geodrafter.com with your e-mail address and create a key under API keys. Then click API key… and paste the key (it starts with gdp_). QGIS stores it in its encrypted authentication database and may ask for its master password.
  3. Click Publish. The project is exported and only files the server does not have yet are uploaded. The link appears in the dialog; Copy link puts it on the clipboard.
  4. Save the project: the map's id is stored in it, so the next Publish makes a new version of the same map at the same link.

An interrupted upload is not lost: click Publish again and it continues with what is missing.

What is uploaded

Only map data and images: manifest.json, GeoJSON/FlatGeobuf data, PNG/WebP/JPEG tiles, legend images and an optional GeoPackage download. Never HTML, JavaScript or other files from the export folder. The map viewer itself is GeoDrafter's own code.
